So you want to rent movies online?
People are always asking me,
“Tevin what’s the best way to rent movies online?”
And we all probably know there are two huge players. And they are Netflix and Blockbuster. The to big “rent movies online” giants.
But of these two huge companies, which one is better? Should I choose both? Who has more titles? Who has cheaper prices? Can I try both of the to find out which one I like?
My goal is to help you answer each of these questions:
- Neither company is “better” than the other. It comes down to personal taste and individual needs.
- You probably should not pay for both companies. This would just be silly.
- You CAN try both companies. They each offer a two week free trial so you can find out which one you like more. Who has faster shipping times, or maybe one has one of your favorite more obscure titles than another. If you can try both for free… why not?
- Both Blockbuster & Netflix are adding thousands of titles every month. So either one may have more titles than another in any given month. But chances are, you’ll be able to find your favorite films in either one.
- Both pricing plans are very similar
So what are the big differences?
Well when you’re trying to choose between Blockbuster or Netflix it helps to know the big difference between the two companies.
The first obvious difference is Blockbuster has brick and mortar stores across the country. While Netflix is still a mail order service only. So Blockbuster has taken advantage of this opportunity and gives you the option to rent movies online then return them to their store at no extra charge. With their Total Access option, you can EXCHANGE your movie with a brand new one in store, for no extra charge. This is a major selling point to anyone looking to rent movies online and offline.
Netflix has recently countered with a very unique service of their own. They have over 7,000 movie available to watch instantly from your computer. So you don’t have to wait for them to be delievered. This a great option for many people looking for instant gratification.
If you’re looking to try either of these two services, I’ve put together a comparrison page here so you can find out which one is best for you. Then sign up.
